Individual Psychotherapy
Exploring our inner beings is an act of trust. The general idea of psychotherapy is to create this environment and guide the client towards better functioning and to “live life better”.
The shaping of your life story within the psychotherapeutic environment is an act of understanding your thoughts, emotions, feelings and behaviour better. The goal would be to help individuals change critical or harmful behaviour, thoughts, and emotions.
As an experienced psychotherapist Tienie has been exposed to different approaches and schools of thought in psychotherapy – it is common that experienced psychotherapists use different approaches or techniques. He is well versed in psychotherapy and thus enjoys the role of psychotherapist.
He has been working with the medical fraternity for the past twenty four years and understands the dynamics relating to the medical model. The supportive role he plays within the doctor-patient relationships is well grounded and well supported. He appreciates the fact that General Practitioners treat about 90% of common mental disorders and thus have a significant case load which also expect them to do the “talking therapies”. He views the medical fraternity as working in a “therapeutic and working relationship” with him. He aims to treat the patient referred from the medical doctor as part of a bigger picture – it is a collaborative effort from all parties to actually “live life better”(Szasz).
